Fernandez Griffin is in his 14th season as football administrative assistant for the Southern University football program. One of the more tenured members on the Southern University football staff, Coach Griffin provides the administrative backbone to the Jaguar football program.

Griffin came to Southern after a five-year stay at Winston-Salem State, where he served in the same capacity under Pete Richardson. He has also spent numerous years as sports information director and equipment manager at WSSU under Hall of Fame basketball coach, Clarence A. "Big House" Gaines.

Griffin's duties include coordinating travel arrangements for the coaches arid team, coordinating community events for the football program and coaches, monitoring the student-athlete's daily class attendance and coordinating fund-raising projects just to name a few. Some of his fundraising efforts include the highly successful Thanksgiving Food Drive that has fed thousands of less fortune Jaguar fans, and being the coordinator of the Pete Richardson Celebrity Golf Tournament.

A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Griffin is a 1979 graduate of Winston-Salem State. Griffin was honored in the fall of 2004, by being inducted into the Winston-Salem State University Athletic Hall of Fame.
