ATLANTA- The Southern Jaguars wrapped up their second, and final day, at the Georgia Tech Invitational with an 0-3 (10-25, 17-25, 15-25)  loss to host team, Georgia Tech. They finished the weekend with another 0-3 (14-25, 11-25, 12-12) loss against Long Beach State.

Georgia Tech jumped out  in front of Southern in the first set as they took a 10-4 lead over the Jaguars. Southern returned a few points in an effort to comeback, but back-to-back kills by the Jackets caused the Jaguars to call their first timeout. Southern burned their second timeout as their opponent took at ten-point lead. The Jaguars score only one more point before the Jackets sealed the first set, 25-10. 

The second set was much like the first as the Jackets took an 11-5 lead before the Jaguars called their first timeout. The Jaguars fought back to putting the game within three, but it wasn’t enough to hold the Jackets. They put the set away, 25-17.

In the third set, the Jackets pulled ahead 12-7. The Jaguars then called a timeout after an ace. The Jackets’ lead increased to 18-10 on another ace. The Jaguars put up five more points before the set was over and Tech took the third, 15-25.

In the last match of the weekend, the Jaguars were dominated by Long Beach State. The Jaguars had a total of 16 kills, 15 assists, and 6 blocks in the match. 

Sophomore, outside hitter Jada Carter was named to the Georgia Tech Invitational All-Tournament Team. Carter finished the weekend with a total of 16 kills, 15 digs, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. The Jaguars will be back on the road this coming weekend for the UT Arlington Invitational.
