Lafayette, La. -- Southern University Women's Tennis team opened up the 2019 campaign, at the University of Lafayette Cajun Courts and Culotta Tennis Center, dropping the match, 7-0.

Louisiana started the day, earning the doubles point taking all three doubles matches.

In the double match Picaut, Floriane/Fabre, Ai Noa (LA) def. Chakanyuka, Tanaka/Chirewa, Rufaro (SU) 7-6 (7-4) 2. Garcia, Marina/Radovanovic, Dana (LA) def. Raymond, D'Jeri/Mbaya, Stephanie (SU) 6-3 3.Mantaux, Clara/Habib, Hoda(LA) def. Munyulwa, Nandi/King, Anya(SU) 6-0

The Rajin Cajun took that momentum into the single-matches. King was swept by Garcia 6-0 and 6-0, Munyulwa was defeated by 6-0 and 6-4 to extend the lead, 3-0.

Louisiana clinched the victory with a straight-set win by Radovanovic win over Chakanyuka 6-3, 6-1.

The Rajin Cajun took the rest, Picaut over Chirewa (6-2,6-0), Habib over Mbaya(6-2,6-1), and Mantaux over Raymond (6-2,6-2).

Southern heads to New Orleans to face Tulane University, Sunday, January 27 at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center home of the Green Wave Tennis program and the 2019 SWAC Tennis Championship.
