Tennis home opener moved to Monday due to weather
Southern University women's tennis will delay its 2018 home opener against Southeastern Louisiana until Monday, Feb 12 due to projected showers in Tuesday's forecast.
The Lady Jaguars were scheduled to host the Lady Lions at SU University Courts Tuesday for a 2 p.m. match. With projected storms expected to surface in the Baton Rouge, officials confer and chose to rescheduled the match.
First serve between Southern and SLU is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Feb. 12, which is also Lundi Gras.
Southern is currently 0-3 on the season and is coming off a 7-0 road loss at Houston on Friday. The Jaguars dropped the doubles point losing 6-1 in at the No. 2 spot followed by the No. 1 post. In singles action. Nicki Neal forced a third set tiebreaker after winning Set 1 6-4 but fell 10-2 in the decisive set. SU's No.1 through No. 5 singles match fell to the Cougars in straight sets to seal the win for Houston.
Following the Jaguars' Mardi Gras mambo with SLU, Southern welcomes New Orleans to Baton Rouge on Feb. 17 before hosting the first of two SWAC Tennis Round Up on Feb. 23 and 24.
