Clinton, Miss. | The Southern University combined cross country team competed at the Watson Ford Invitational at Choctaw Trails home of the Mississipi College making the fourth meet of the season. Choctaw Trails will host the Southwestern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship October 22.
After two weekends off, the Men's and Women's team saw several runners best their personal times.
The women competed in the 6K course. Last season the Jaguars competed in the 5k course. The women were able to fight through the woods to hit their marks.

"I didn't feel it, last year I literally kept striving to break 20:00 minutes in the 5K and the fastest I went was 20:17 and even though it was a 6K this year at the 5K mark I was way below 20:00," said Colston.
The men's team competed in the 8K course, for the first time this season and recorded a fourth-place finish ahead of (Jackson St. sixth place and Mississippi Valley seventh place).
All five runners posted personal best at Saturday's meet. Freshman Abraham Kiprop was the top performer for Southern University, Kiprop finished in 19th place, the rest of the Jaguars place in the top 33 out of 78 runners. Kiprop set a personal best of 26:51.
"My teammates give me the motivation and positive mind to keep running my best each week," said Kiprop.

Coach Darden and her Jaguars will be traveling back to Clinton, Mississippi for the SWAC Cross Country Championships.
