Volleyball opens Alabama tourney on SEC Network
Southern University volleyball will look to halt a 7-game losing streak in front of a nationally televise audience when the Lady Jaguars face the University of Alabama on SEC Network Plus on Friday at 10 a.m.
Friday's match marks the Lady Jaguars first television appearance of the 2017 season and will open a three-game stand in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
After opening the Crimson-White Tournament against host Alabama, Southern (0-7) will face Troy Friday afternoon before concluding its non-conference schedule against Murray State on Saturday in the tournament finale.
Live stats for all matches at the Crimson-White Tournament are available at http://www.sidearmstats.com/alabama/wvball/.
Southern ended a 12-day hiatus last weekend at the UCA Volleyball Classic in Conroe, Ark. after Hurricane Harvey canceled the Lamar University Tournament. Despite falling in straight sets to Oral Roberts, Central Arkansas, Arkansas State and Central Florida, Southern outside hitter Paige Hall's play earned her an All-Tournament team selection. Hall recorded a team high 11 kills and posted a .280 hitting percentage in the Lady Jaguars loss to Central Florida.
With the non-conference slate coming to a close, Southern will open Southwestern Athletic Conference play at the first of two interdivisional Roundups Sept. 22-24 hosted by Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.
