Jaguars participates in Bayou Bengals Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Senior Jamira Russ threw her season-best 19.23m at the Bayou Bengal Invitational on the campus of Louisiana State University defeating an impressive field from across the SEC, C-USA, and Southland conference.

Russ continues to impress this indoor-season missing her personal best by .02m thrown in Birmingham, Alabama during the 2017 Southwestern Athletic Conference. Russ also finished with a tenth place finish with one recorded throw of 12.47m.

Camryn Hawkins continues to come on of late, taking her second consecutive 200m victory with a time of 25.08 after winning the McNeese Indoor Invite last week. Terralicia Mercadel finished in 6th place with a time of 25.63. Nia Williams finished right outside of a 10th place with an eleventh place time of 26.55.

Raelynn Price made her collegiate debut in the 400m dash and recorded a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:00.3, Price also recorded a fifth-place finish in the 60OM run with a time of 1:40.77.

Vshati Hannah placed fifth with a jump of 5.47m on her first jump and passing the rest.

Next up for the women's team is the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.

Artis McCoy finished his indoor season with a second place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 22.89 seconds.

Amari Calvillo-Tatum recorded a second place finish with a time of 51.54 seconds in the 400m dash. In the 600m run Issac Brown placed sixth, while teammate Walter Mixon finished 16th.

Keshaun Javious recorded a tenth place finish in the 800m run.

The men's will begin preperations for the outdoor season, which is set to begin on March 10th at the McNeese "Bob Hayes Invite", in Lake Charles, La.
