BATON ROUGE - Southern University soccer fell to the University of Louisiana at Monore, 5-1 Wednesday night in their sixth game of the season at Jaguar Park.
Southern falls to (1-5, 0-0), Nicholls improves to (3-3, 1-0)
With less than 10 minutes left in the half, Camryn Ciaramella scored giving her team a 1-0 lead at the 36- minute mark.
Southern's defense fought off the Warhawks the remainder half going into halftime 1-0.
ULM outshot Southern, 20-11, and posted 6-1 shots on goal advantage. Goalkeeper, Chioma Eriken, had 9 saves out of 11 shots on goal. Eriken recorded 72-minutes in Wednesday's game. The Jaguars held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Early in the second half the Warhawks continued their momentum from the first half and scored three more goals one after after another. Mackenzie Bell scored giving her team 2-0 lead at the 49-minute mark. Madi Garza scored yet again another goal giving her team a 3-0 lead at the 53-minute mark.
Less than a minute later, Melissa Taft scored giving her team a 4-0 lead over the Jaguars at the 53-minute mark as well.
The Warhawks' last goal was scored at the 75-minute mark by Rachel Zerazion giving her team a 5-0 lead.
Just when the Jaguars thought it was over, Freshman Aniya Clark scored giving the Jaguars their first goal of the night at the 86-minute mark, making the final score 5-1.
“Good Note with 3 keys players returning to practice this week we head to conference with the most healthiest team since I been here,” said head coach Jeremy Fontenot
The Jaguars will have a week off from a nonstop 6 game streak. Sunday, September 29 they will travel to Alabama to face Howard University. This game will be the first of conference games for the Jaguars.
