Lady Jaguars Fall to Troy

BATON ROUGE - Southern University soccer falls to Troy University in home opener 3-1 at Jaguar Park. 

 Southern falls to (0-4, 0-0), Troy improves to (4-1-2, 0-0)

 Both teams got out to a late start leaving the first half scoreless. Troy got out in front by scoring the first goal in the Second half. Noelle Golden scored giving her team a 1-0 lead at the 56-minute mark.

 The Jaguars soon answered by scoring their first goal in the second half. Lauryn McKinny scored making it a tie game at the 69-minute mark

 Troy outshot Southern 12-9 and posted 3-1 shots on goal advantage. Sophomore goalkeeper Chioma Eriken had 9 saves out of the 12 shots on goal. Eriken recorded 90-minutes in tonight's game. The Trojans held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.

 "When you play teams of that caliber like Troy you have to take chances and we didn't," said head coach Jeremy Fontenot. 

 The Jaguars will host Nicolls State Univerisity Sunday, September 15 at 1pm in Jaguar Park.
