BATON ROUGE - Southern University soccer came out on too against Mississippi Valley State, 5-2 Friday night at Jaguar Park. 

Southern improves (3-10-1, 2-5-1), Mississippi Valley falls to (1-12-1, 0-8-0)

The Jaguars got out in front early in the first half. Senior, Jessenia Rivera scored for the Jaguars making it 1-0 at the 2-minute mark. Rivera's goal was assisted by Senior, Tiffany White. 

Freshman, Cordney Armstrong recorded her second goal of the season giving her team a 2-0 lead at the 31-minute mark. 

Freshman, Love' Tover followed in her teammate's footsteps and made her second goal of the season giving her team a 3-0 lead at the 36-minute mark. 

Southern and Mississippi Valley tied in Shots at 15 each, Southern posted14-9 shots on target advantage. Goalkeeper, Alayna Grey had 7 saves out of 9 shots on goal. Grey recorded an entire 90-minutes in Friday nights game. Southern and Mississippi Valley Tied in corner kicks, 4 each. 

The seniors were all determined to leave their mark on the field tonight. Senior, Sophia Zavala scored her first goal of the season. Zavala's goal was assisted by Senior, Jessica Gutierrez. 

Senior Taylor Coleman Scored the last goal of the night for her team, recording her first goal of the season. Also, making the score 5-1 at the 66-minute mark.

The Jaguars will host Alcon State Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. in Jaguar Park for the last home game if the season.
