Southern falls to (1-8, 0-3), Alabama State improves to (3-10, 2-2)

The Jaguars came out in the first half and played hard against the Hornets. Although in the first half the Hornets posted a 10-4 advantage in shots, the Jaguar managed to keep the entire first half scoreless.

Early in the second half, the Hornets came out of halftime and took the lead. Isabelle Beortegui scored at the 50-minute mark giving her team a 1-0 lead.

The Jaguars fought their way to the end but at the end of the game, it just wasn't the outcome that they had hoped for.

"We can't allow the referees to decide the outcome of the game for us. We have to be in control of the outcome," said head coach Jeremy Fontenot.
