BATON ROUGE, La. | Southern University Jaguars clinched the seventh seed of the 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference Soccer tournament, with a shutout win, over Jackson State Lady Tigers, 1-0 on Senior Night Friday at Jaguar Park.

Noelle Payne scored her first goal as a Jaguar at the 33-minute mark to take the decisive 1-0 lead from the top of the penalty box.

That was all the Jaguar's defense and goalkeeper Chioma Eriken needed to keep Jackson State off the board for her fourth shutout of the season.

Eriken finished the season with 150 saves to lead the nation and finished second on Southern's all-time season records list.

Southern clinched the seventh seed of the 2018 SWAC Tournament after missing the tournament last season. The Jaguars will face the Lady Bison's of Howard University, Thursday, November 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the PVAMU Soccer Complex at Prairie View A&M Univeristy.

Southern fell to Howard last week, 2-1. Howard's Aleeya Sawyer scored the game-winner, scoring from a corner kick at the 60-minute mark.
