Severe weather postpones Lamar soccer match
Severe lightning and rain forced Southern University soccer to postpones Sunday's match against Lamar at Jaguar Park.
The Jaguars (0-2) and Cardinals (0-5) will reconvene on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. to restart the non-conference match. According to NCAA rule, games are not considered official until play has reached the 70' minute.
With Lamar leading 3-0 in the 19' minute, officials halted the game after several lightning strikes registered near the Baton Rouge campus. Both teams retreated to the confines of the A.W. Mumford Fieldhouse, where they remained for nearly three hours.
Following Monday's game, the Jaguars four-game homestand continues Friday, Sept. 9 when Southern hosts Southeastern Louisiana. First touch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
