Prudhomme, Sam drop 24 in 89-59 loss at Baylor
BATON ROUGE – Jared Sam and Shawn Prudhomme combined to score 48 points but Southern fell 89-59 to the No. 4 ranked Baylor Bears Wednesday night in front of 5,091 fans at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.
Senior guard Tre’Lun Banks couldn’t get anything going on the offensive side of the ball but played solid defense on Baylor guard Manu Lecomte holding him to five points. The Jaguars are normally a good three-point shooting team overall only shot 23% from behind the arc. Banks ended the game with a team high of five assists.
“In the first half, we had no rhythm and the closest we go the second half was 19 points,” said Roman Banks, SU Head Coach.
The Jaguars fell behind 11-0 before the Southwestern Athletic Conference leading scorer hits a three-point basket. Prudhomme also leads the conference in three-point baskets made and is second in three-point basket percentage.
The Bears had five players score in double digits led by Johnathan Motley with 20 points and 10 boards. Al Freeman and Ishmail Wainright scored fourteen points each, while Jo Lual-Acuil and King McClure added 10 points each.
