Soc: Lady Jaguars fall to Cowgirls

Lake Charles, La. – Southern’s University soccer team traveled to Lake Charles, Louisiana to take on Louisiana foe McNeese State University, Friday night at Cowgirls Soccer Complex.

The Cowgirls controlled the match after the 20 minute mark, defeating the Lady Jags 4-0.

McNeese (3-2-1) scored three goals within a ten minute span to put the game away in the first period;  The Cowgirls outshot the Lady Jags 16-1 in the first period.

Coming out of halftime Southern (0-4) held McNeese to nine shots in the second period. The Cowgirls were able to connect on a free kick to put the game out of reach. Sophomore Sophia Zavala, and Senior Ayana Williams led the offensive charge, each recording two shots with one on goal. Senior Kendra Lewis recorded six saves, bring her season total to 35, giving her 159 career saves which ranks 5th in Lady Jags history.

Southern will face Nicholls State University Sunday, September 17 at Jaguars Field. First touch is set for 1 p.m.
