LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Southern men's basketball team played its second consecutive road game facing another 2019 NCAA Tournament program Thursday night inside the Pan American Center at New Mexico State University. The Jaguars comeback fell short as they were defeated in a hard fought battle 79-63.
Southern (1-2) started the game with a three pointer from Amel Kuljuhovic and the Jaguars defense was able to keep the Aggies (2-1) scoreless for the first 4:47 of play. Kuljuhovic two made free throws right before halftime cut the Aggies lead 30-25 heading into the locker room. 

The Jaguars traded baskets with the Aggies in the second half, getting down by as much as 19 points before fighting back, cutting the Aggies lead to six points 64-58 with 3:10 left to go in the second half. Southern shot 52% from field goal range going 15-of-29 and 43% from three point range going 3-of-7 in the second half.

Southern was lead by graduate transfer Micah Bradford with 13 points, 2 assist and 1 steal, Montese Blake had 12 points, Damiree Burns and Ahsante Shivers each had eight points. Darius Williams lead the Jaguars on the boards with six rebounds and Amel Kuljuhovic had four rebounds. SU outscored the Aggies 30-28 in the paint and the Jaguars bench outscored New Mexico State 38-24.
