Montogomery, Ala. -- Southern University Jaguars fell on the first day of the 2019 Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament to the Alabama State University Lady Hornets 10-1 (5), Monday morning at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex located on the campus of Alabama State University.

The Lady Hornets stung fast, recording five hits in their first five at-bats, ending the bottom of the first with a 5-0 lead before the seats got warm. Alabama State ended the inning with seven hits, two stolen bases.

The Jaguars got on board in the top of the third inning, on an Adriana Rincon RBI single to center field that scored Aubrion James.

Alabama State added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to seal the victory and put Southern in the loser bracket.

Aubrion James got the nod in the circle pitched three innings allowed seven runs ( five earned), seven hits, no walks, no strikeouts.

Adrianna Rincon paced the Jaguars offense recording two hits, and a RBI.

Southern will face the loser of the W#1 Texas Southern versus E#4 Jackson State game, Thursday, May 9 at 9 AM.
