Southern University outfielder Hampton Hudson helped the Jaguars seal their second straight win over an instate foe with a 10th inning walk-off single to edge the University of New Orleans 5-4 Wednesday night at Lee-Hines Field.

Southern, who toppled 8th-ranked SEC juggernaut LSU at home Tuesday, improves to 19-15 while New Orleans drops to 16-17 on the season.

Hudson's heroics punctuated a wild finish which saw Southern relinquish a 4-0 lead in the lead in the seventh inning after the Privateers plated three runs.

Tied at four in the bottom of the tenth, Ashanti Wheatley doubled to centerfield  after Malik Blaise struck out to open the inning. New Orleans intentionally walked Willie Ward to load the bases after catcher Bobby Johnson reached base on an fielding error by the Privateers shortstop.

Hudson waisted little time to seize his game-winning moment sending the first pitch to centerfield to score Wheatley from third and igniting a wild post-game celebration which included the Baton Rouge native being drenched with water from his teammates who charged from the SU dugout.

Hudson finished the night 2 of 4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Wheatley, Hunter David and Tyler LaPorte joins Hudson as the only Jaguars to record multiple hit on Wednesday. David and Javeyan Williams each hit homers to add to Southern's 11 total hits.

Starting pitcher Austin Haensel pitched four complete innings of scoreless baseball, allowing three hits and fanning three batters.

Charles Bailey recorded the win for Southern, who used nine different pitchers secure the team's 19th win of the season.

Southern resumes league play on the road for a three-game series at Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday, April 12 in Pine Bluff, Ark.
