BATON ROUGE, La -- Southern senior forward Sidney Umude has been named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference squad in the Dos Equis 3x3U National Championship, with games set to begin at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Friday, April 5.

Umude will be joined on the SWAC squad by fellow conference seniors Montavious McKnight (G | UAPB), Jeremy Combs (F | TXSO), and Gary Blackston (G | PVAMU).

Umude finished his career at Southern University having played in 52 games in two-season after transferring from Youngstown State. Over the course of two-season Umude averaged 10.79 points and 4.85 rebounds a game. He capped his senior year averaging a career-best 12.5 points, and 5 rebounds a game.

Sidney is the second Jaguar to compete in the 3x3U event. Southern standout Jared Sam played in the inaugural year.

In 2018, the SWAC defeated the America East in the Quarterfinals and fell to the Big Ten in the Semi-Finals, then fell to the MEAC in the 3rd place game in the Championship Bracket.

The SWAC squad is one of 32 teams in the field at the 3x3U National Championship, representing each of the 32 Division I conference in the country. The teams are divided into eight, four-team pools, with the SWAC team, included in pool H alongside PAC-12, SoConn, and the ASUN.

Games for the Southwestern Athletic Conference team will begin at 10:10 p.m. (MT) on Friday, April 5, when it faces the Atlantic Sun. The SWAC will then wrap up pool play on Saturday, April 6, facing the team from the SoConn at 2:00 p.m. (MT) and conclude day two versus the Pac-12 at 4:20 p.m. (MT).

All games of the Dos Equis 3x3U National Championship will be carried live on Twitter or ESPN2. All of the games during pool play on Friday and Saturday can be seen on Twitter along with the Round of 16 and quarterfinals games. The semifinal, consolation and championship games will be televised live on ESPN2, beginning at 1 p.m. (MT) on Sunday, April 7.

Teams will be playing for a $150,000 prize pool and a chance to compete in the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 Open National Championships, scheduled for May 3-4, in Las Vegas, Nev.
