BATON ROUGE, La. -- After a year of playing all their home games at different softball complexes around the City of Baton Rouge, Zachary, and New Orleans, the Southern University Jaguars Softball team returns home to Jaguar field after the completion of repairs.

Southern will welcome Mississippi Valley State University Lady Devilettes beginning Friday, March 21, first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm while Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 pm game two will resume thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one.

The Jaguars (3-14, 1-2) opened conference play last weekend against Jackson St. dropping the opening series 1-2, falling in the rubber match 5-3. In the two losses, Southern gave up late runs after leading for the majority of the game. Freshman Christy Kelly led the Jaguars with four hits going 4-of-8 and scoring once, Kameri Mott went 3-of-8 recording three-RBIs, a double and scored once, Paytin Marcado and Jaslyn Perrodin each scored twice.

Mississippi Valley defeated Southern, 6-2 last season in a non-conference tilt. The Jaguars took the lead 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth when the Devilettes strung six runs over the next three innings.

Mississippi Valley (2-19, 1-3) opened conference play versus Texas Southern dropping the series 0-3, the Devilettes made up one game versus UAPB defeating the Golden Lions, 7-3.

Southern's Aubrion James, Tiara Scott, and Christy Kelly will see time in the circle for the MVSU series. James appeared twice versus JSU starting once, giving up no runs, on three hits, striking out four. Scott recorded two starts, gave up nine runs on ten hits, striking out 11. Kelly came in relieve pitched a total of four innings in the series giving up two runs on two hits, striking out one.
