In the words of former Chicago Cub Ernie Banks, “Its a beautiful day for a ballgame; Let’s play two today.”
But the beautiful weather isn’t scheduled to stick around through the weekend.
For the fourth time this season, rain and severe weather will force Southern University baseball to modify a games scheduled start time and date.
Southern University alters its home series with Arkansas-Pine Bluff due to weather in the weekend forecast.
The series, which opens Southwestern Athletic Conference play, will start with Friday afternoon with a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Lee-Hines Field. Game Two is scheduled to commence 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game One.
The two teams will wrap up the series Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Rain reduced the Jaguars first road series at Northwestern State to a single doubleheader played on the final day of the scheduled series. A 6:30 p.m. start time at LSU was delayed 15-minutes after a dreary downpour moved across the capital city. The Jaguars last two games against Eastern Illinois and Southern Miss required a schedule adjustment due to rain or the aftermath of heavy rain affecting the field conditions.
Southern (6-6) is coming off an 8-3 road loss at Southern Miss Wednesday but is three wins shy of matching its overall win total of nine games from last season.
