WACO, Tx. -- Southern University Jaguars and #18 Baylor University Bears will meet for the ninth time in school history, at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.

The game will tip at 7:05 pm Wednesday.

Baylor leads the series 8-0, the Bears has never lost to a SWAC institution (55-0). Tonight's game is Baylor's third consecutive game versus an HBCU institution (Texas Souther (W 99-68), Savannah State(W 118-86), Southern(Dec. 20) and fourth overall defeating Alcorn State (W 78-61)  Nov. 17.

Last time out Southern extended their home win streak to three after defeating Florida A&M 68-50 Thursday, Dec.14. Southern University's defense came alive in the second half, holding FAMU to 30 percent shooting and nine turnovers resulting in 19 points off of those second-half turnovers to defeat FAMU 68-50 Thursday night at the Clifford Seymour Gym. The Jags recorded a season-high 9 steals and forced 24 turnovers.

The men's basketball program continued their celebration through Friday morning as senior forward Jared Sam is one of 25 SU student-athletes graduating. Sam was recognized following the Jaguars 18-point win for scoring his 1,000th point against North Carolina Central earlier this season.

Sam has recorded four double-doubles so far this season, he is a double-double from tying a career high.

Sidney Umude played for the first time this season and scored a team-high 14 points versus Florida A&M.

De'Rias Johnson (Dallas), Sidney Umude (San Antonio), and Jamar Sandifer (Dallas) returns to Texas for the first time this season.

Baylor set a school record shooting 66.13 percent from the floor last week versus Texas Southern.

Baylor will play their last non-conference game versus Southern, the Bears will start conference play versus TCU Dec. 29 at the Ferell Center.

Southern fell to Baylor last season 89-59 Dec. 14 in Waco, Texas.
