DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Southern look to bounce back Wednesday night against MEAC foe, Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Wednesday's game will broadcast live on CatEye Network with live stats available on Sidearmstats.com/Bethunecookman.

In their previous outing, the Jaguars defensive intensity forced 31 turnovers and scored 41 points off those miscues but it was not enough to take down the Lady Jaguars of South Alabama Monday night in the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala.

Samantha Duncan led all scorers with a game-high 22 points on 8 of 16 shooting with four three-pointers. Sarai Blissett also posted a career day with a 21-point effort, shooting 6 of 10 from the field and 9 of 12 from the free throw line. Briana Green added 16 points off the bench with five rebounds.

Southern got their first lead of the night off a 19-foot jumper by Green to put the Jaguars up 53-52 with 7:57 left in the fourth quarter after trailing by as many as 25 in the first half.

South Alabama sealed the deal going on a 11-2 run to close the game and capturing the lead back from Southern.

Southern enters Wednesday's game with a 1-5 record while Bethune-Cookman has posted a 5-2 record.

Bethune-Cookman is coming off a two-game win streak over Grand Canyon University and Palm Beach Atlantic University. The Wildcats are led by junior guard Angel Golden, who is averaging 13 points per contest, and junior forward Chasimmie Brown, who averages 12.7 points per contest

After the Bethune-Cookman tilt, Southern heads to Tampa to take on the University of South Florida on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Southern's final game of 2017 will take place in West Palm Beach in the West Palm Invitational against Toledo at noon on December 18th. The Jaguars will enjoy a well-deserved holiday break before regrouping in Baton Rouge to prepare for the SWAC opener at Texas Southern on New Year's Day.
