Southern struggles in road loss at Missouri State
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Southern University falls to 0-3 after dropping an 86-58 decision to the Missouri State University Bears at the JGH Center Wednesday Night.
The Jaguars struggled to find any offense at Missouri State, shooting 27 percent from the floor (8-30) in the first half. The offensive struggles continued through the second half as Southern finished the game shooting 30 percent from the floor (20-67).
Missouris State was led by Preseason Player of the Year Alize Johnson, who finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. MSU out-rebounded Southern by a 51-41 margin.
Southern's Brandon Ganaway recorded a team-high 11 points while guard Eddie Reese scored 10 points, hitting three 3-pointers on the night.
Southern travels to Durham, North Carolina to face the No. 1 team in the country, the Duke Blue Devils, Friday night at 7 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
