Ed Monroe enters his second season as an assistant/pitching coach with Southern University. Prior to joining Head Coach John Garris’ staff at Southern University, he served as pitching coach for San Joaquin Delta Community College in Stockton, California from 2014 to 2017.
In 2017 under the guidance of head coach Jim Fisher the Delta College Mustangs were the Big 8 Conference Champions, ranked 4th in the State, and the coaching staff was voted by the NFCA, Northern California coaching staff of the year for 2017.
Before Delta, Ed served as an assistant coach at Los Banos High and Pacheco High School along with working with local Travel Ball teams.
During his playing days, Ed played 16 seasons of Major and A Division Men's Fast Pitch Soft- ball. He was voted First Team All Northern California 3 consecutive years during this span. He’s a former ASA/USA All American, who also participated in the 1989 United States Olympic Sports Festival held in Oklahoma City, and played in numerous National Tournaments through- out the country.
When not at Southern University Ed makes his home in Los Banos, California with his wife Sarah where he operates Bases Academy a baseball and softball training facility. Ed and Sarah are the proud parents of Brooke, Kelsie and Clarke Monroe. He says his biggest accomplish- ment in his life is his family. While in high school Brooke and Clarke received All League honors in softball and tennis respectfully, and Kelsie is a former WAC Pitcher of the Year in 2015 while attending CSU Bakersfield, and most recently served as pitching coach for Grand Canyon Uni- versity in Phoenix, Arizona in 2018.
