Track and Field Coaching Staff
Freddie Glover, a native of Lafayette, LA, competed at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1999-2003. Glover also served as the Ragin' Cajuns sprints and hurdles coach from 2012-2018.
Glover and his wife, Ingrid, live in Lafayette and are the parents of two daughters and one son, Aniyah, Ava, and Aiden
He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University in 2005 and established a Lafayette-based printing company, Optimum Printing and Graphics LLC. Glover lettered at UL from 1999-2003 under head coach Charles Lancon. During his time at UL, Glover was involved with many on-campus and nationally recognized organizations such as Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., UL Student Government and NAACP.
Before joining the UL program, Glover spent the previous six years as the sprints and hurdles coach of both the boy's and girl's program at Northside High School, where he helped revamp a below average track team into a Louisiana prep powerhouse.
During his tenure at Northside, the team earned numerous boys and girls district championships and claimed nine combined indoor and outdoor state championships, with two nationally-ranked athletes.
During his first 2 years on the UL coaching staff, Glover helped guide the sprinters to three runner-ups finishes at the Sun Belt Conference meet while producing 3 NCAA regional qualifiers.
His 4x100-meter relay team in Carter, Tyler Hughes, Devin Davis and Jeryl Brazil qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Championships after finishing 10th overall at the 2015 NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla., and posting the fifth-fastest time (39.89) in school history.
During the 2016 season, Glover was instrumental in the performances of both Carter, the Sun Belt Conference Indoor champion in the 200-meter dash, and Alena Hrusoci, the SBC Outdoor champion in the 400-meter hurdles. Hrusoci, who ran a school record of 57.74, was also invited to the European Championships where she competed for the country of Croatia.
Glover was also instrumental in the development of sprinter Hanoj Carter, who earned All-America honors in the 100m dash at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Carter, who established a school record in the indoor 100-meter dash (10.19 seconds) in 2017, set an indoor school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.00 during the 2017 campaign.
The 2018 Indoor season was highlighted by Jeryl Brazil who ran the 2nd fastest time in the nation at 6.55 in the 60m under Glover's guidance. Brazil's performance earned him All-American Honors at the 2018 Indoor Track and Field Championships held in College Station, TX at Texas A&M University.
Glover is Level 1 certified by the USATF Association. In addition, he has held key positions in track and field event promotion, management, and coordination on the local, state, and national levels.
