Kedrick Brown begins his first season with the Southern University Men’s Basketball team.
Brown begins his first season as 2017 Player Personnel with the Southern University Men’s Basketball Team. Brown has played and trained at the highest level of basketball. Although he has not coached a team directly, he has trained and mentored youth and young adults around the world. He encourages his mentees to work hard, stay focused, believe in themselves and above all keep God first.
Brown had an incredible basketball career. In 2001, Brown became the first junior college player to be drafted in the first round of the NBA. He was selected 11th overall by the Boston Celtics. Brown also played with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers during his tenure in the NBA. He had a small stint in the NBA Developmental League from 2007-2009 where he was selected first round and 9th pick overall by the Anaheim Arsenals. Brown finished his professional career overseas in Turkey and China.
Brown attended Okaloosa –Walton Community College now known as Northwest Florida State College. He earned NJCAA First Team All American as a sophomore. While playing for OWCC he averaged 16.6 points and 10.4 rebounds as a freshman and 22.9 points and 8.8 rebounds as a sophomore. During his sophomore year, his team won the State Championship and he was named Most Valuable Player. Brown was inducted into the NJCAA Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
Brown is a 1999 graduate of Zachary High School. During his senior year of high school, he averaged 25 points and 18 rebounds. He was also selected to the All-State Team and was named Class 4-5A Most Valuable Player. During high school, Brown also ran track and long jumped were he placed 2nd in the state his senior year. Brown is also in the Zachary High School Hall of Fame.
