BATON ROUGE - Southern University finished the LSU Bayou Bengal with multiple top performances. 
Senior Terralicia Mercadel won the 400 meters recording a time of 56:55. This is her 3rd win of the indoor season. Mercadel remains in first place in the conference rankings as the 2019 Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. 
After two fouls, Senior Faith Estelle rallied to throw a 15.30 in her third and final attempt to make it into the weight throw finals. Estelle came back a finished third with a 16.85. Estelle still holds her 1st place position going into next week's SWAC Indoor Championships. 
For the second week in a row Sophomore Raelynn Price took first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.31. This time has put Price in 3rd place on the SWAC performance list. "We're looking for some great things coming fro her going into the conference meet," Head coach Teremine White said. 
Freshman Charvares Wilson recorded a break out performance in the shot put. Finishing 6th with a throw of 14.70 meters. This throw put Wilson in 3rd place on the SWAC performance list. 
 
Junior Artis McCoy recorded another personal best finishing 5th with a time of 6.91. McCoy is sitting 8th right now on the SWAC performance list. 
Junior Derek Garner took second in the 200 meters running a time of 22:69
“For next week we’ll be taking a lot of training off of them and taking them out the weight room so they can be fresh for the championship meet,” Head coach Teremine White said. 
The Jaguars will have the upcoming weekend off before they prepare for the 2019 SWAC Indoor Championships on February 14-15 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham Cross Plex.
