Southern returns to the F.G. Clark Activity Center to open Conference play against Prairie View A&M University Saturday evening. The game is set to tip at 5:30 pm.

Southern will host Community Organization day for Area non-profit and mentorship programs to take advantage of special group tickets. Head Coach Sean Woods opens his second stint as a SWAC head coach. His final season with the Mississippi Valley State he stormed through the conference, recording a conference and tournament title, and a bid to the NCAA Tournament and received Ben Jobe Award Recipient. Woods holds a 44-28 SWAC record, 29-7 in his final two seasons.

The Jaguars are coming off an 81-41 loss to #16 Marquette. Sydney Umude was the lone double-digit scorer(10).
Southern's faced a tough non-conference schedule competing against five power-five schools, Alabama, Baylor, Louisville, and #16 Marquette.
The Jags are led offensively by Senior Eddie Reese (31mpg., 14.5ppg), off the bench Sydney Umude (24.5mpg., 11.4 ppg) and senior Richard Lee (10.4ppg).

Lee tore through December averaging 16.1 ppg.
The Panthers are coming off a home-opening 81-65 win Wednesday over Huston-Tillotson. PVAMU improved to 2-11.  The Panthers dished a season-high 22 assists on a season-high 33 made field goals.
Byron Smith enters his third full season as head men's basketball coach at Prairie View A&M University.
