HUNTINGTON, W.V. -- Southern University takes on Marshall University Monday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center.
The Jaguars head into Monday night's matchup 0-1 after dropping the season opener to the University of Illinois 102-55. Senior forward Jared Sam recorded a double-double, scoring a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds. The senior from Baton Rouge finished as the lone Jaguar to score in double-digits in 33 minutes. Sam shot 47.1 percent (8-for-17) from the floor and 71.4 percent (5-for-7) from the charity stripe.
The Thundering Herd of Marshall defeated Tennessee-Martin in overtime 102-91. Junior guard Jon Elmore set a new career-high with 38 points to spearhead Marshall's comeback past UT-Martin in the overtime win.
Southern will face Marshall for the first time in program history. This is the second game of five consecutive games on the road in a ten-day span for the Jaguars.
Marshall returns seven
After Monday's game with Marshall, the Jaguars will travel to the midwest to face Missouri State on Wednesday in Springfield, Mo. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
