Greetings Jaguar Nation,

Saturday's 103rd edition of Southern University Homecoming festivities allowed many alumni, fans, and supporters to revel in what is the undeniable trademark of anyone who considers themselves a "Defender of the Gold and Blue."

That 'Ole Southern Spirit' safely guided us through the present danger posed by Hurricane Nate to a 35-14 homecoming win over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in front of 15,279 fans.

I want to commend the Jaguar Nation for recognizing and responding admirably to our proactive decision to ensure the safety and well-being of the university and Baton Rouge community with the time change and postponement of the homecoming parade.

Fans remained patient and were encouraged to witness several of the Gameday amenities which are new to A.W. Mumford Stadium, including the ticket scanners, increased campus signage and various in-game activations that highlight the continued growth of SU Athletics.

Now, we join Head Football Coach Dawson Odums and the Jaguars as they regroup and refresh for what will be an exhilarating stretch run and we ask for your continued support on Nov. 4 as we salute the 2017 Senior class on High School Day in the home finale.

And remember...Go Jags!
