HUNTSVILLE, AL - Southern University soccer falls to Alabama A&M 3-0 Friday evening in their second conference game of the season at Bulldog Soccer Field.
Southern falls to (1-7, 0-2), Alabama A&M improves to (5-5, 3-0)
The Bulldogs got an early lead in the first half when D'Essence Burnett scored at the 6-minute mark giving her team a 1-0 lead.
Southern outshot Alabama A&M, 15-11, and posted 10-5 shots on goal advantage. Goalkeeper, Chioma Eriken, had 2 saves out of 5 shots on goal. Eriken recorded an entire 90-minutes in Friday evening's game. The Bulldogs held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Late in the second half, the Bulldogs continued their lead. Makayla Rushing scored at the 76-minute mark giving her team a 2-0 lead. Two minutes later D"Essence Burnett scored yet again at the 79-minute mark giving the Bulldogs their last point of the game.
"We conflicted with our own wounds today. The desire to win was subdued by the lack of intensity. Sunday we will regroup and come again," said assistant coach Sheneaka Wright.
The Jaguars will be back in action Sunday, October 6 to face Alabama State at 1:00 p.m at ASU Soccer Complex in Montgomery, AL.
