BATON ROUGE -- Southern University forward Sidney Umude scored a game-high 18 points as the Jaguars halted a two-game losing skid with a 59-49 win over Alabama A&M Saturday night in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
Umude shot 7 of 13 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds. Senior Richard Lee added 12 points, going 4-for-10 from three-point territory.
Southern held the Bulldogs to under 40 percent shooting and scored 22 points off of 17 Alabama A&M turnovers. The Jaguars lead for 36:41 in the 10-point win.
No player reached double-figure scoring for Alabama A&M.
Southern returns to the F.G. Clark Activity Center to host Alabama State on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
