Southern guard Kendra Coleman joined Brianna Sidney of Texas Southern and as Southwestern Athletic Conference Co-Players of the Week for the opening week of the conference schedule, the conference announced Wednesday.
The two players nearly mirrored each other, both leading their teams to 2-1 records in SWAC play.
Coleman, a 5-9 guard from Donaldsonville,La. averaged 18.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and two steals per game. She was an efficient 15-of-30 (50%) from the field and nearly perfect from the charity stripe, hitting 20-of-22 (91%) freethrows. Coleman scored 20 points this week in games against Prairie View and Grambling State.
The Jaguars return home to host UAPB Jan. 12 in Game 1 of a SWAC doubleheader in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
