A native of Aurora, Co and graduate of The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Beau Walker has taken the role of Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track Coach for both the Men's and Women's teams specializing in the hurdle events and distance groups. The 2013 season was a breakout season for Sophmore Tershauna Braodnax who finished 2nd Indoor and Outdoor in the sprint hurdles at the SWAC Conference Championships improving her persoanl best to 8.69 in the 60mh and 13.98 in the 100h. Harold Fluellen also captured the bronze in the same event. The Cross Country team showed growth in the fall with the Lady Jags improving their team finish to 5th up from 10th the season prior and the men closing out SWAC at 7th place up from 9th in 2012. ShaNiece Pinkston and Willie Williams were named SWAC athletes of the week for their performances throughout the season. Prior to her official hire, Coach Beau volunteered with the Jags and saw success throughout the hurdle events. Erich Seals earned a bronze medal in the SWAC Championships for 110h running a personal best of 14.11 earning a ticket to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships in Tampa, Florida. Maya Anderson earned a 4th place finish in the Conference Championships as well, running a personal best of 1:01.11.
Beau Walker, a 2005 graduate of the University of Alabama holds a Bachelors degree in Business Marketing and Masters Degree in Sport Management. While competing for the tide she grew into one of the best track athletes in that illustrious institution's history. Walker holds the school record in the 100 meter hurdles (12.96) and ran a personal best of 56.28 in the 400 meter hurdles. During her tenure she was a part of the fifth fastest 4x100m relay in the school history which turned in a 44.17 on the way to winning the Drake Relays title, set the school record in the 60m hurdles at the NCAA Championships, taking fourth place in the process and became the SEC 60m hurdles champion. Coach Beau was featured in the National Publication "Track and Field News" after enjoying the biggest meet of her collegiate career on one of track and field's biggest stages when she won the 100m and 400m hurdles as well as anchoring two Tide relays to victory at the prestigious Drake Relays. This performance named Walker the 2004 Drake Relays "Outstanding Performer of the Meet" as well as SEC Track Athlete of the Week. She served as a co-captain of the women's team for two years, earning two-time NCAA All-American honors and All-SEC titles.
Coach Beau is Level 2 certified through USATF for sprints/ hurdles and relays and has completed training in the Endurance Events through USTFCCCA. At UA, Walker served on the Board of Directors for the Lady Warriors, Inc. - a girls' athletic organization, and she ran the "If the Shoe Fits" scholarship program, in which she personally sponsored funding for athletic shoes for participants and winners of various academic contests through a national athletic apparel retailer.Off the track Walker has worked in various student-athlete services capacities including sports marketing and athlete-academics and prides herself on volunteerism and advocacy.
